The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte- String Trio

One of Charlotte’s Most Exceptional Wedding Destinations

Located in South Charlotte, The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte remains one of the most comprehensive hotel wedding venues in the region. The property combines large-scale ballroom capacity, outdoor ceremony settings, rehearsal and welcome event spaces, on-site accommodations, and integrated event management within a single location.

For couples planning a Charlotte hotel wedding, this structure allows the entire celebration — from rehearsal dinner through reception and next-day brunch - to unfold without relocating guests or vendors.

Indoor and Outdoor Event Spaces

- The Ballantyne Ballroom is the heart of the reception experience. It’s where dramatic entrances, candlelit dinners, and full dance floors come to life. The space feels grand without feeling overwhelming, making it ideal for a celebration that is both formal and welcoming.

- For more intimate receptions, the Fairway Ballroom and Carolina Room offer the same polished atmosphere on a slightly smaller scale. These rooms are perfect for couples who want elegance without the magnitude of the main ballroom.

- The Atrium and Overlook naturally lend themselves to cocktail hour. Guests can gather, mingle, and transition from ceremony to reception without ever feeling rushed.

- And of course, the grand staircase - one of the hotel’s most recognizable features - creates a stunning backdrop for portraits and entrances that feel truly special.

- Outdoors, couples have several beautiful ceremony options, including the North Lawn, South Lawn, Terrace, Carolina Balcony, and the Rose Garden. Each offers its own atmosphere, from expansive open lawns to more intimate garden settings. The convenience of having indoor spaces just steps away provides peace of mind while preserving the beauty of an open-air ceremony.

- For wedding weekends, The Lodge at Ballantyne offers additional gathering space and guest accommodations. It allows couples to extend the celebration — hosting rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, or brunches — while keeping everyone close and connected.

Seamless Planning and a Complete Wedding Experience

One of the advantages of hosting your wedding at The Ballantyne is the level of support built into the property. The hotel’s dedicated event team guides couples through the planning process and remains present throughout the celebration, ensuring timelines are honored and details are handled smoothly.

Because catering, coordination, and technical support are all managed on-site, couples aren’t juggling multiple outside logistics. The result is a wedding day that feels organized without feeling rigid - structured behind the scenes, effortless in the moment.

As a full-service luxury hotel, The Ballantyne also allows your celebration to extend beyond the ceremony and reception. Out-of-town guests can stay on property, gather for brunch the next morning, enjoy the spa, dine together, or relax on the grounds. Instead of a single evening event, your wedding becomes a shared weekend experience.

Holiday Season Charm: A Seasonal Tradition at The Ballantyne - The Gingerbread Row Display

Every December, The Ballantyne unveils its signature gingerbread row display — a detailed, whimsical collection of handcrafted gingerbread houses that has become a cherished holiday tradition in Charlotte. For many families, including ours, it marks the start of the season.

Guests are invited to vote for their favorite gingerbread creations, with a minimum donation per vote. All proceeds benefit Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, supporting the physical and emotional care of children and their families. It’s a thoughtful way the hotel connects celebration with community impact.

Beyond the display itself, the life-size gingerbread hut adds another layer of charm. Festive hot cocoa and seasonal beverages are served from inside the gingerbread coffee house — and I can confidently say it’s some of the best hot chocolate my children and I have ever tasted.

For December weddings, rehearsal dinners, and holiday gatherings, this tradition adds warmth to the setting.

Mia & Nicholas’ Wedding at The Ballantyne - String Trio

Mia and Nicholas’ wedding took place in the Ballantyne Ballroom, with cocktail hour immediately following in the Atrium. Their event reflected a traditional ceremony structure executed within a large-scale ballroom environment.

Guests were welcomed with a classical prelude including: Largo by Handel, Canon in D by Pachelbel, Air in D by Bach, Hornpipe in D by Handel.

- Family seating was set to Mouret’s Rondeau.
- The bridal party entered to Arrival of the Queen of Sheba,
- The Bride’s entrance followed with Wagner’s Bridal Chorus.
- The recession concluded with Mendelssohn’s Wedding March,
- Guests exited the ballroom to La Rejouissance from Handel’s Royal Fireworks Suite.

Cocktail hour began immediately afterward in the Atrium, where the musical program shifted into a broader mix including:

- Largo from Winter by Vivaldi
- Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra
- Sophisticated Lady by Duke Ellington
- Everything by Michael Bublé
- La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf
- Marry You by Bruno Mars
- We Found Love by Rihanna
- Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding

Following the ceremony, guests transitioned effortlessly from the ballroom into the Atrium for cocktail hour, allowing the celebration to continue without pause.

Planning Your Wedding at The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel

The Ballantyne’s ballrooms, Atrium, and outdoor ceremony spaces provide a natural setting for live strings. Whether your ceremony takes place inside the Ballantyne Ballroom or outdoors on the lawn, the layout allows music to carry beautifully without overpowering the space.

Because of our long-standing experience performing at The Ballantyne and our inclusion on the hotel’s, we understand how to pace ceremony entrances, position for cocktail hour in the Atrium, and transition smoothly between locations throughout the day.

Our goal is to create music that complements the scale and character of the property and your event - whether that means a classical ballroom ceremony, a garden-style outdoor wedding, or a refined cocktail hour indoors.
